| Alumni Give Back |
Last month, ASFG welcomed back a group of alumni for its annual Career Mentorship Day, an event designed to connect current students with graduates working across a range of industries — from finance and law to design and technology.
Among those who returned was James Whitfield (Class of 2011), now a product manager at a growing tech startup. James spent the day running workshops on career planning and answering student questions about life after graduation.
"It's easy to forget how uncertain everything feels at that age," James said. "I wanted students to know it's okay not to have it all figured out — what matters is staying curious and being willing to try new things."
Alongside James, alumni including a chartered accountant, a nonprofit director, and a practicing architect led small-group sessions, offering practical advice on everything from writing a CV to navigating early career setbacks.
Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive. Many said hearing directly from alumni who once sat in the same classrooms made career advice feel more real and achievable.
"These sessions aren't just informative — they show our students what's possible," said one of the event's staff organizers. "Seeing alumni give their time so generously is exactly what our community is about."
Plans are already underway for next year's event, with several alumni volunteering to return and expand the mentorship program further.
